Bouillante is known as an internationally renowned diving spot and an insider tip for its hot springs. Boats leave from here for the Jacques Cousteau underwater nature reserve. Whether the pioneer also filmed parts of his film “The Silent World” here with Louis Male in the 1950s is pure speculation. However, he was the source of the idea for the underwater reserve. But footage was taken for the successful television series “Death in Paradise”. We offer diving trips, excursions to the Pigéons Islands, hikes in the Guadeloupe National Park and sightseeing tours.
The coral reefs at Bouillante are shallow. This opens up a wonderfully colorful and varied underwater world, ideal for snorkelers. We offer an accompanied snorkeling tour by boat (approx. 2 hours). In addition to tropical fish and corals, you can also observe sea turtles, which lay their eggs on Petit Malendure beach. Afterwards, we try the spicy “accras de morue” - codfish balls - in a cool beach bar.
On this coastal hike from Anse Colas via Anse à Zombi to Malendure beach, you can enjoy great views of the Pigéons Islands. You will see cacti and rubber trees along the way. Picnic and opportunity to swim at Petit Malendure beach (approx. 6 km, ca. 400 meters in altitude, there/back, approx. 4 - 5 hours incl. picnic).
On board the excursion boats Nautilus (capacity ca. 100 people) and Ti Nautilus (capacity approx. 50 people) you will be taken to the underwater world around the Pigéon Islands in approx. 5 minutes. You sit approx. 1.5 meters below the surface of the water and can enjoy a 360-degree view of this unique underwater flora and fauna through transparent windows without any effort. There is a swimming stop on the way. We also offer 3-hour canoe tours as a sporty alternative.
We offer dives in the reserve. Will you meet the super model Willy Monfret while diving? Rather unlikely, even if he has already dived there. Because he comes from Saint Francois in the flat Grande-Terre part of the island. You are sure to meet many divers from all over the world there, as the spots there are a magnet for underwater sports enthusiasts. If you have a little more time: we recommend a combination with less frequented spots such as Port-Louis, Deshaies or Terre-de-Haut.
