We offer exciting excursions from our Deshaies base. Communication then takes place in English, French or with hands and feet. And there is always something to laugh about.

Coastal fishing with locals

A fishing boat takes you into the bay of Deshaies to hunt for barracudas and other tropical fish. Afterwards preparation and cosy lunch together.

From Deshaies, the route is initially steep and stony for around 250 metres, then more leisurely over the Gros Morne mountain, past a battery with old cannons, to Grande Anse beach. From the ‘Trou à Didi’ viewpoint, you will see the beach on the way.  The walk, which is popular with visitors and locals alike, takes about 1 hour (about 2 kilometres one way). Afterwards, have a cocktail at the beach bar Chez Samy and enjoy a swim in Ziotte. Then walk through the rainforest back to Deshaies (approx. 30 minutes, ca. 2 km).

Finally, lunch at Fort Royal, where some of the crew are accommodated (approx. 5 km, flat)

Your hike begins there through shady rainforest and later through sugar cane fields to Solitude in the municipality of Sainte Rose. On the way, you will have one or two great panoramic views, e.g. of the Grand-Cul- de-Sac-Marin with its islands (ca. 7 km, 3 hours, approx. 500 metres descent). In the afternoon, opportunity to take a trip to an island off the coast.

Our tour starts at the sports ground in Deshaies and takes us via dream beaches (Grande Anse, La Perle) and great viewpoints (e.g. Gadet) to the Hotel Fort Royal. Our tour ends there with a coffee break. (approx. 7 km, flat, 2 hours walking time. Very early start in the morning due to the heat). If possible, we will visit an unknown cassava factory on the way (unfortunately not always open, only possible with reservations). Specialities from Manioc are produced there. Another highlight is a visit to a farmer in Deshaies who keeps wild boar in the nature reserve.

We offer diving courses in co-operation with Calypso Plongée in Deshaies. We will pick you up at the hotel and bring you back again. We are happy to help with any communication difficulties. Diving is possible in Deshaies (less frequented) or, for example, in the Jacques Cousteau underground reserve near Bouillante.  We are happy to organise hotel reservations, excursions and transfers from/to the airport. Diving safaris, e.g. in combination with Terre-de-Haut or Port-Louis, are also possible. We  do not offer dives to Sec Paté.
