Sint Maarten

Sint Maarten is always considered one of the most important cruise ports in the world. Or one of the 3 most prestigious marinas along with Monaco and Fort Lauderdale. Philippsburg with its Front Straat is an Eldorado for duty-free shopping. Although it belongs to the Netherlands, English is the main language spoken here. The cable car "Soualiga Sky Explorer" up Sentry Hill is spectacular. In about 25 minutes you reach a height of about 350 metres and have a gigantic view of St Maarten and the neighbouring islands. You can glide down again on the "Flying Dutchman", the steepest zipline in the world. For divers, wreck diving to the frigate HMS Proselyte, which sank off Fort Amsterdam in 1801, is a highlight, as are the numerous reefs off the coast. Or enjoy the Americas Cup feeling for once. Take part in the Heinekens Cup in March on a 12-metre yacht. And of course white beaches, the famous night life at Simpson Bay, Maho and in Phlippsburg as well as bars and restaurants .... and the well known carnival in the last week of April: from the J'ouvert to the Grand Parade.
