One of the most popular holiday destinations for the French welcomes you with dream beaches on the south coast: from Gosier to the Pointe des Châteaux near Saint Francois, great beaches such as the Plage des Bois Jolan or the Plage des Raisins Clairs await you. Insider tips are a little more remote, such as the Plage des Salines at the Pointe des Chateaux. Hotels for every budget can be found in the south, while the other coasts are ideal for holidays with the locals.
In the Grands Fonds in the interior of the country, colonial history comes alive, as it does on the north and north-east coast. Windmills and sugar cane fields are reminiscent of the heyday of sugar cane, legends and myths surround sights such as Madame Coco's hole ‘Trou a Man’ and the colonial house Zevallos. Surfers feel at home in the south and east, while the west is ideal for diving. The windy cliffs in the north at the Pointe de la Grande Vigie even have a beautiful bay nearby.
Urban architecture from the colonial era, shopping streets, boutiques and city life with museums can be found in Pointe-à-Pitre. High life with restaurants, cafés and discos all along the south coast, e.g. at the marina of Bas-du-Fort and near Gosier. Le Moule is an architectural gem. The church, the town hall, the Edgar Clerc Museum, etc.
