On the trails of the police jeep

In the beginning, the series only mentions Honoré and Port Royal. Then the places pile up and new names keep appearing. Rosey Fabrice or later Rosey Hooper comes from Chapeltown, for example. Incidentally, she was played by 2 different actresses. After Fola Evans Akingbola was no longer available, Tobi Bakare brought his wife along. DS Florence Cassell has relatives in Martinique, but her boyfriend Patrice Campbell comes from the fishing village of Belle-Mer. Steadman King and Fabienne Jordan come from the village of San Boullestre in season 7, episode 4. The Red Planet inspection team has to go further afield. Many hidden gems are revealed. Here is a selection. We will be happy to accompany you on a tour of the island of Basse-Terre in the footsteps of the episodes. Some filming locations, such as the Ciné-Théatre in Lamentin, where a musician was shot during rehearsals, are a little out of the way.

In episode 6.4, the sports field of this sleepy

in the far south of Guadeloupe is converted into a cricket club.  It's a shame that the marvellous view of Domenica and the Saintes Islands is not shown. Driving in this area is also rather sporty, car accidents are very rare. However, partying in the sports centre is popular everywhere and the alcohol level is not below that of the commissioner. A little rum or two to celebrate. In the 13th season, we see the panoramic view of Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas in a photomontage with Port Louis. DS Naomi Thomas comes from Saint Barnabas, from where the view floats over the islands.

Near Trois-Rivieres: Bananier beach is one of the most popular beaches for surfers in Guadeloupe. As they say, the only beach break on the island This is where Humphrey Goodman meets Martha for the first time while solving a murder in a kind of youth hostel in season 5. You don't need to be afraid. You certainly won't get run over. Unfortunately, the prospects of finding great love are also rather slim. It's hard to sit down in the yoghurt.

Filming at the Vieux-Fort lighthouse (Hope Point) was not without danger for the cameramen. No-one fell off. However, you can clearly see that DI Jack Mooney doesn't feel so comfortable there in episode 9.4. Maybe that's why he left the island afterwards and not because of his daughter? The lighthouse and the short walk there are part of almost every island tour in the mountainous part of Guadeloupe. The sunny views of the Saintes Islands are truly marvellous

The police jeep often drives along this road. The viewer is sure to think they are in the vicinity of Deshaies. However, this beautiful allée is located right next to the motorway near Capesterre on the other side of the island and is ideal for filming because only tourists drive along it. The road is also not very long.

Mme Sergeant at the wheel had to pedal hard.

In the 9th season 3 episode, we follow in the footsteps of the Tour de Guadeloupe, a regionally renowned amateur cycling race. Of course, there's no tournament pass. They probably wanted to be nice to the extras and didn't chase them up the climb at Caféière, the terror of all amateur cyclists. So DI Mooney wouldn't have come up there in the police jeep? If not, it certainly wasn't because DS Madeleine Dumas was riding. The cyclists were accommodated in the Habitation Grande Anse in Ziotte behind Grande Anse beach.

The Guadeloupe National Park in the 2 Mamelles area is presented to us in various episodes. It is advisable to take a local guide for longer hikes. In the jungle, the signposting is often not so good. It doesn't have to be Captain Jack. However, egg thefts are not uncommon there. You should keep your hands off them. Our tip: the Saut d'Acomat, a somewhat hidden waterfall near Pointe-Noire.
