Richard Poole gets cool

The second season takes us to Sainte Rose, among other places. Episode 1 "Murder on the plantation"  was filmed at the Domaine de Séverin. This distillery, rich in tradition, can hopefully be visited again soon. You will have your 3 o'clock tea at the Hôtel Fort Royal (Jaracanda Clinic) again during our guided tour, as most of the filming for this episode took place there. From the Plage de Cluny near the Hôtel Fort Royal, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the islands of Kahouanne and Tête d'Anglais (beware of underground currents). This is where the burnt-out car of gardener Duncan Wood was found in episode 8 and the love affair between Duncan and Vicky became public. Nearby in the village of le Plessis Nogent there are a number of beautiful villas, e.g. Villa le Plessis, which belongs to Malcom Powell in episode 8. Richard Poole comes to terms with the heat and befriends Camille Bordey. Sit back and relax on our tour between the port of Deshaies and the hidden treasures of Sainte Rose.

Roger Seymor is found dead in one of his factory buildings (Domaine de Séverin). DI Poole delves deep into colonial life to solve the case. There were also some tragic moments in reality with the owners, including a boiler exploding in 1964. The distillery was the first to be opened to visitors on the island in 1986 and is impressive in its dimensions.

Our tour will introduce you to the filming locations of season 2, which are open to the public. These are largely located in the canton of Sainte Rose. The town hall of Sainte Rose is the prison and the court palace. Private villas can only be visited and photographed with the permission of the owners. In some cases this is possible by arrangement with the owners, but there is no entitlement. This is the case with Villa Gaja Mada, the holiday home of Doug Anderson, in the episode "A dash of sunshine", with a great view of Grande Anse beach. One of the most beautiful villas is Maison Alissa, the home of Eloise and Steve Morisson. in episode 5, "Murder on board". Here, Camille Bordey emotionally wanted to arrest Eloise and the Inspector had to intervene In general, there was a preference for filming locations at the Pointe Battery in season 2. On day tours, filming locations such as the Aérodrome in Baillif cannot be visited for logistical reasons. During heavy, usually short rainfalls, detours into the terrain in the hinterland are completely or partially impossible.

In which supermarket in Deshaies did Richard Poole's corrupt "cop" Doug Anderson buy his cigarettes in episode 6? In which villa did Daryl Dexter live in "An unholy Death"? Is it the unique villa of Christiane and Didier Cunin with the magnificent view of Grande Anse beach? Where was the bicycle shop in Deshaies? On which beach were the moonshiners caught in episode 5 much to the delight of the Commissioner (or Commandant in French - remember the discussion between Camille Bordey and DI Richard Poole: "La Manche" or the English Channel.....)?  From the Montagne aux Orchidées, on a clear day, you can see Montserrat, Antigua and the islands of Kahouanne and Tête d'Anglais. This is where the University of Sainte Marie was set in episode 7 and where Professor King was convicted murder after his attempt on Leo Downs' life. Unfortunately, this sight is currently closed. However, it is possible to spend the night there. The 18th century house is one of the finest examples of rural colonial architecture in Guadeloupe. Also interesting is the Villa Souques-Pagès in Pointe-à-Pitre (now a museum), which was later built in the "Eiffel style" and where the beginning of the 4th episode of "A deadly Curse" was filmed. Camille and Richard on the road together. What a transformation since the beginning of the first season.
