Quad and ATV: Off-Road & Road

Quad biking is really fun off-road and on roads where there is not much traffic. On some islands the possibilities are rather limited, others are very suitable. A car driver's license is usually sufficient. Of course, there are quads for hire everywhere. Sometimes the area around the rental stations is densely populated or the operation of the accelerator pedal of some road users leads.... to get also into a car.

Anguilla, with its little-used roads and considerate driving style, offers ideal conditions for a relaxed quad/ATV vacation from Blowing Point Village, where the two providers are located.  Full day adventure tours are of course not possible due to the size of the island, but excursions of approx. 15 - 60 minutes OW, e.g. Forest Bay Aerea - Easts End, Rendezvous Bay - Westend Village, Meads Bay - Road Bay - Crocus Bay in the north: the beaches are lined up one after the other on the approx. 30 km long island: swimming breaks included.

There are also two ATV rental companies in St Kitts. These offer guided tours or normal rental. In St Kitts, a brief instruction is required, which costs $ 25 (as of 2022), the so-called “temporary drivers permit”, which allows you to drive on the sometimes busy main road. There are flat rates for one or more days or a week. Due to the topography of the island, it is generally not possible to avoid some sections on the main road, but there are also some very beautiful routes on side roads and off-road. Timothy Hill Overlook - Frigate Bay - Turtle Beach, the villas and fortresses of the west coast, off-road in the north at the foot of the volcano or perhaps a trip to the island of Nevis? There is a rental shop near the ferry terminal or you can take your quad from St Kitts. Nevis is a beautiful excursion destination with its little-used roads and paths (apart from parts of the coastal road) and its varied nature.

On the island of Nevis, the conditions are ideal for 4 x 4 and quad bikes of all kinds. Apart from the coastal road, the number of paved roads is limited due to the sparse population. This means that nothing stands in the way of unlimited ATV fun. Unfortunately, there is only one provider, but it is well stocked with vehicles. A temporary drivers permit is also required in Nevis ($30, as of 2022), which allows you to drive on the coastal road. Collision insurance cannot be taken out and is not included. There are guided tours are offered on St Kitts or Nevis or only the ATV can be rented. The roads are not all in top condition, but that is not a problem with ATVs. Beautiful beaches, small villages, the cozy Charlestown or the one or other “estate” at the foot of the Nevis volcano will not let you get bored.
