The beautiful complex was a former coffee plantation with an elegant colonial house, located about 300 metres above the sea and 3 km from the coast. Pointe Noire is about 5 km from the complex. Nearby, the Saut d'Acomat, one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island, is well worth a visit. Former filming location for the series Death in Paradise (2 episodes). The rooms or holiday flats, which are air-conditioned between 19:30 and 07:30, are all furnished in typical local style with lots of wood, have WLAN and a bathroom with shower/WC. High Lights Basse Terre
Basse Terre is an ideal hiking region where you can go on marvellous coastal and low mountain hikes to waterfalls, panoramic views and vantage points. With a hire car, you can also explore the island on winding but very good roads. The botanical garden of Deshaies and various plantations are well worth a visit.
The Chutes du Carbet, the Cascades aux Écrevisses, but also lesser-known waterfalls such as the Saut de la Lézarde and the hiking area around the volcano La Soufrière with its springtime panorama are among the interesting destinations. However, our insider tip is the coastal hikes and rainforest walks in the area around Deshaies / Sainte Rose.
Take a boat trip from Sainte Rose to the offshore islets, e.g. to Ilet Blanc or Ilet Caret. Or we can put you in touch with a fishing boat that will take you from Deshaies to the island of Kahouanne, a 20-hectare nature reserve with a beautiful beach and dense vegetation.
